DSHA MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Full Membership
Open to those holding a Master’s Degree or equivalent with major emphasis in speech pathology, audiology, or speech and hearing science. The requirements for election as a member may be waived in special instances by recommendation of the committee on membership and a majority vote of the Executive Council.
Associate Membership
Open to those holding a Bachelor’s Degree in speech pathology, Audiology, or speech and hearing science and to those in related fields who are not eligible for full membership.
Life Membership
Bestowed upon full or associate members who have reached the age of sixty-five, have retired from the profession, and have been a member in good standing for eight consecutive years prior to retirement. Life members shall enjoy, without payment of dues, the privileges of the membership which they held before becoming life members. Recognition shall be awarded by a majority vote of the Executive Council.
Services and Benefits of Membership:
- Regular meetings which focus on current professional issues.
- Periodic newsletter publications including announcements of upcoming events and job openings.
- Membership directory.
- Continuing education workshops and presentations offering opportunities to update professional skills and knowledge with reduced fees for DSHA members. (DSHA is approved by ASHA to offer Continuing Education Units).
- Special committees to address concerns and disseminate information regarding issues such as third party payment, school affairs, licensure, etc.
- Public relations activities including news releases and promotion of the profession to the general public and other professionals.
