Friday, April 16, 2010 (EST) - NSSLA Conference: Augmenting Communication with Sp April 16, 2010 8:30 - 4:45 pm http://www.wcupa.edu/conference.services/conferences.asp This conference will focus on improving communication for individuals with complex communication needs through the use of speech output technologies or "speech generating devices (SGD)". Regardless of practice setting, it is likely the SLP "generalist" will encounter children or adults who can benefit from aided augmentative communication. As the technology options grow, SLPs need a framework to understand the range of features and the ability to match the technology to the individual with complex communication needs. This conference will also address the responsibility of the SLP to engage in the SGD funding process. Attendees will meet a successful SGD user, who will provide additional insights into the importance of technology to individuals with complex communication needs. Add Your Comment
